About GPCA
Greater Portland Christian Academy was established for the purpose of assisting parents in raising their children to prepare them for adult challenges and responsibilities in ministry as well as the secular realm.
Our History
Greater Portland Christian Academy’s doors opened September 6, 2005.
It is a ministry of Greater Portland Baptist Church — a fundamental, independent, Bible-believing church striving to build families according to the principles of God’s Word. The school ministry was founded specifically to help parents meet their God-given mandate to train their children in the light of Scripture.
Greater Portland Christian Academy provides attractive, modern classrooms housed in over 55,000 square feet of building space. Greater Portland Christian Academy provides a challenging instructional program for students in K4 through Grade 12 in a structured, loving environment. The lower grades utilize a strong phonics-based reading program. While the Middle and High School is designed to internalize God’s principles to live out the calling on their lives.
We primarily use the A Beka Book curriculum along with the King James Version of the Bible.
Teachers of K4 through elementary grades use a system with negative and positive reinforcements. Good behavior awards are given out each month in chapel. Greater Portland Christian Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally afforded or made available to students at the school.
All students of GPCA are required to attend Chapel every Friday school is in session. Each week one of the Pastors on staff at Greater Portland Baptist Church will bring a message that will enrich and inspire each student, helping them to internalize Biblical truths to equip them for life.
